Smart Aviation Maintenance Solutions provides aircraft MRO services and parts support across Canada and internationally. Smart AMS Inc. is a Transport Canada Approved
Maintenance Organization that provides technical services to support all aspects of aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul and technical assessments. Smart AMS Inc. focus is to provide a one-stop maintenance to help our customers meet their operational goals.

Job Summary

The Purchaser for Aircraft Maintenance is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring parts, materials, and services necessary for the maintenance and repair of aircraft. This role ensures that all procurement activities align with industry regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies.

Core Competencies:

1. Vendor Management:

o Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring they meet aviation industry standards.

o Evaluate new supplier qualifications to ensure compliance with aviation quality and regulatory standards.

o Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure adherence to aviation maintenance requirements.

2. Procurement Activities:

o Coordinate procurement activities, including RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes, specifically for aviation parts and materials.

o Negotiate contracts and prices to ensure cost-effective purchasing of aviation components.

o Review and analyze purchase requisitions for accuracy and compliance with aviation maintenance policies.

3. Inventory Management:

o Monitor inventory levels of aviation parts and order new supplies as needed to support aircraft maintenance operations.

o Implement inventory and investment recovery practices to optimize the availability of critical aviation components.

4. Compliance and Audits:

o Ensure adherence to aviation procurement principles and practices.

o Conduct onsite and desk audits of vendors to ensure compliance with contractual terms and aviation industry standards.

5. Team Leadership:

o Lead a team of purchasing agents and oversee their activities related to aviation procurement.

o Provide training on aviation-specific procurement processes and conduct periodic performance reviews.

6. Technical Support:

o Liaise between aircraft maintenance and engineering teams for technical issues related to procurement.

o Provide technical support for procurement-related matters, ensuring compatibility with aviation maintenance requirements.

7. Continuous Improvement:

o Monitor and implement sourcing strategies and processes to enhance the efficiency of aviation procurement.

o Focus on continuous improvement to enhance service levels and support aircraft maintenance operations.

8. Safety Management System Participation:

o Take part in the organization's aviation safety management system and annual audits.

o Conduct internal audits within the purchasing department to ensure proper processes are followed and costs are kept as low as possible, while maintaining aviation safety standards.

9. Additional Duties:

o Perform other duties as assigned by the company, including tasks related to aviation procurement and maintenance support.

KPIs/Responsibilities:

1. Vendor Management:

o Number of new aviation suppliers evaluated and approved.

o Frequency and outcomes of vendor performance reviews, focusing on aviation standards.

2. Procurement Activities:

o Timeliness and accuracy of procurement processes for aviation parts and materials.

o Cost savings achieved through effective negotiation of aviation components.

3. Inventory Management:

o Inventory turnover rates for aviation parts.

o Reduction in inventory holding costs for aviation components.

4. Compliance and Audits:

o Compliance rate with aviation procurement principles and practices.

o Number and results of vendor audits conducted, focusing on aviation standards.

5. Team Leadership:

o Team performance metrics related to aviation procurement.

o Frequency and effectiveness of training sessions on aviation-specific procurement processes.

o Oversee personnel and carry out performance reviews, ensuring alignment with aviation maintenance goals.

6. Technical Support:

o Resolution time for technical issues related to aviation procurement.

o Feedback from aircraft maintenance and engineering teams on procurement support.

7. Continuous Improvement:

o Implementation of new sourcing strategies for aviation components.

o Measurable improvements in service levels supporting aircraft maintenance operations.

8. Safety Management System Participation:

o Participation in aviation safety audits and management system activities.

o Results of internal audits within the purchasing department, ensuring adherence to aviation safety standards.

9. Additional Duties:

o Completion of other duties as assigned by the company, including aviation procurement and maintenance support tasks.
