The Eye Centre is proud to deliver exceptional eye care across Fort McMurray, Prince Albert, and now Yorkton! We offer a full spectrum of vision services, including comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages. Our commitment to innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement drives us to provide the highest standard of care.

We’re currently seeking a dedicated Optometric Assistant to join our Fort McMurray clinic. As the first point of contact for patients, you’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming and organized experience—from the initial phone call to managing patient records. This position also involves electronic file management, payment processing, and administrative support for both the optometrist and clinic leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering seamless patient experiences—from booking appointments to check-in and final paperwork
  • Supporting team members during peak hours and absences to reduce wait times
  • Processing insurance claims, handling payments, and completing administrative tasks with precision
  • Answering calls professionally and directing inquiries appropriately
  • Preparing equipment and testing areas to ensure safety and functionality
  • Educating and preparing patients for vision exams, administering eye drops, and guiding them through testing
  • Conducting basic vision tests including depth perception, color vision, acuity measurements, and retinal imaging
  • Managing referral paperwork and follow-ups to ensure smooth patient transitions
  • Handling contact lens inventory and order processing
  • Maintaining organized, sanitized workspaces and ensuring equipment meets healthcare standards
  • Upholding strict confidentiality protocols for patient records
  • Contributing to overall clinic cleanliness and organization
  • Performing additional duties as needed to support clinic operations

What We’re Looking For

  • Friendly, professional communicator with strong verbal and written skills
  • Previous experience in a medical office is a strong asset
  • Comfortable with office technology, scheduling software, email, and Microsoft Office
  • Tech-savvy and eager to learn new equipment and systems
  • Skilled at multitasking, prioritizing, and staying focused under pressure
  • Motivated to grow and expand your skillset
