Optical Lab Technician / Optician – Lab-Focused Position

We are seeking an Optician with strong optical lab experience to join our team. The ideal candidate is skilled in the full lens processing workflow, including measurements, edging, mounting, troubleshooting, and quality control.

This role is best suited for an optician who enjoys the technical lab side of optics and takes pride in producing precise, high-quality eyewear.

Key Responsibilities

Optical Laboratory – Primary Focus

  • Perform lens measurements, blocking, edging, drilling, grooving, and mounting.
  • Process single-vision and progressive lenses to prescription and frame specs.
  • Work with various lens types, coatings, and frame systems, including rimless and semi-rimless.
  • Verify PD, fitting height, optical centers, and prism.
  • Inspect finished eyewear for accuracy, alignment, and cosmetic quality.
  • Troubleshoot and correct edging, fitting, and lens issues.
  • Identify and resolve problems before final delivery.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment as needed.
  • Ensure all work meets quality and accuracy standards.
  • Manage workflow efficiently while meeting turnaround times.

Optician Responsibilities

  • Interpret prescriptions and process orders accurately.
  • Assist with frame and lens selection when needed.
  • Take measurements and perform fittings and adjustments.
  • Communicate lab requirements and special instructions with the team.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

What We Are Looking For

  • Licensed Optician or experienced optical professional with strong lab skills.
  • Proven experience in edging, mounting, finishing, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with digital edging equipment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of lenses, materials, coatings, and frames.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to solve lab issues independently.
  • Efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, organized, and team-oriented.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate can manage the full process from prescription to finished eyewear with minimal supervision.

Strong optical lab experience is the key requirement for this role.

Pay: $18.25-$36.45 per hour
