Full job description

Seeking an ophthalmic technician/assistant for a busy ophthalmology office. The successful candidate should preferably have experience in assessing visual acuity, intra-ocular pressure, administering ocular drops, doing visual fields, autorefraction and lens biometry, using a lensometer and doing OCT scans. Position is full-time, contract for 1 year, with the likely possibility of becoming permanent due to anticipated changes in the next year. Flexibility is important, since office is open from 6 am - 9 pm most days, with occasional Saturdays. The selected candidate must be willing to work two evening per week and two early mornings per week.

Some basic office is experience helpful. Presently, the office has transitioned to an EMR (Accuro). Knowledge of this system would be an asset, but training on the job can be provided to the appropriate candidate. Computer literacy is required.

The office is a very fast paced environment. The selected candidate should have a strong work ethic, be able to communicate with elderly, visually impaired and handicapped individuals, work collaboratively as part of a team and be an excellent problem solver, with a desire to learn.
