Full job description

At Tried and True Builders Ltd. we are seeking a Field Operations Manager to oversee field execution, quality, and safety standards across our construction projects.

This role serves as the critical connection between our ownership and estimating team and our field crews. This team member will ensure projects are completed to company standards, maintain effective communication across all levels of the organization, and provide leadership and support to our foremen and their carpentry teams.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Site Oversight

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards and building codes.
  • Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with foremen and crews.
  • Ensure projects are progressing according to plans, schedules, and client expectations.
  • Maintain consistency in quality across multiple active projects.

Workforce & Productivity Management

  • Support and oversee foremen in the day-to-day management of carpentry crews.
  • Review project progress and man-hour performance to identify efficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with workforce planning and resource allocation to ensure project schedules are met.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all crews adhere to company safety policies and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in site inspections and safety initiatives.
  • Support the company's commitment to maintaining a safe and productive workplace.

Project Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between ownership/estimating team and field personnel
  • Ensure project information, scope changes, schedules, and priorities are communicated effectively to field teams.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to ensure projects are executed according to budgeted labour and production targets.
  • Monitor overall progress against master schedules, proactively removing operational bottlenecks before they delay a build..
  • Ensure accurate daily logs, hours, and sub-contractor progress for streamlined payroll and billing, utilizing project management software

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide guidance and support to foremen
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in developing field processes and best practices to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Promote a positive work environment focused on safety, communication, and craftsmanship

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Canadian construction (custom homes, multi-residential, or P3) with proven experience managing multiple crews, projects and priorities simutaneously.
  • Strong understanding of residential building envelopes, structural framing and building codes.
  • Ability to assess workmanship and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Familiarity with construction management software is a strong asset, with ability and willingness to learn and utilize digital software/tools.
  • Exceptional leadership and collaborative skills; able to solve technical field challenges while coordinating seamlessly with office staff.
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and clean driving record (travel between active regional job sites is required).

Pay: $55,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
