Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labourer to join our team in Markham, Ontario. This is a hands-on production role focused on the mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical assembly of cryogenic and compressed gas trailers. The right candidate reads shop drawings, works independently, and holds themselves to a standard where every torque spec, every connection, and every installation is done right the first time.

Key Responsibilities

Trailer Assembly and Dressing

• Install air tanks, valves, shocks, and air springs for air ride suspension systems in accordance with CTM assembly procedures and manufacturer specifications.
• Dress trailer frames with hardware, fittings, and ancillary components as directed by the job order and shop schematic.
• Verify component fitment, alignment, and clearance before proceeding to the next assembly stage.

Pneumatic and Electrical Installation

• Read and interpret CTM shop schematics to route air lines, install conduit, and run heavy gauge wire across trailer chassis.
• Identify correct routing paths, secure all lines and conduit per drawing specifications, and confirm system integrity before handoff.
• Follow CTM's wiring and pneumatic procedures for each trailer configuration.

Mechanical and Component Installation

• Measure and cut steel components to specified dimensions using shop tools.
• Install tires, fenders, and mudflaps in accordance with CTM standards and applicable vehicle configuration requirements.
• Mount light boxes and junction boxes at designated locations per schematic layout.

Electrical Finishing

• Connect LED lighting arrays to plug-and-play harness systems, ensuring complete circuit integrity and clean cable management throughout the trailer.
• Perform continuity and function checks on completed electrical systems before sign-off.

Quality and Precision

• Read and apply correct torque specifications for all fasteners and assemblies. No torque step is optional.
• Flag any component, fitting, or structural item that does not meet specification before proceeding. Do not pass a deficiency forward.
• Document completed assembly stages on the job form as required by the QC process.

Inventory and Logistics

• Identify part numbers and cross-reference deliveries against packing slips to confirm accuracy before any item enters inventory.
• Process received parts into inventory using CTM's parts tracking system and ensure correct storage location.
• Report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods to the Shop Foreman immediately upon identification.

Requirements

• Hands-on mechanical experience in a trades, industrial, or heavy equipment shop environment.
• Ability to read and interpret shop schematics, including CTM's custom assembly drawings and procedure-specific diagrams.
• Demonstrated competency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment including tape measures, torque wrenches, and cutting tools.
• Familiarity with pneumatic systems, air line routing, or vehicle suspension components is an asset.
• Basic understanding of 12V/24V trailer electrical systems and LED lighting wiring.
• Physical capability to perform assembly work in varied positions including bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Organized and self-directed on the floor. You are expected to execute from a drawing without constant supervision.
• Committed to workplace safety and PPE compliance at all times. CTM works with cryogenic equipment, compressed gas systems, and regulated pressure vessels.

Working Conditions

• Full-time, 40 hours per week. Overtime as required based on production volume.
• Work performed throughout the shop floor across the full assembly sequence.
• Regular exposure to dust, paint fumes, grease, and industrial shop conditions. All required PPE is provided by CTM.
• This is a floor role. The Trailer Assembly Technician is expected to be present at the shop, not office-based.

Pay: $26.00-$44.00 per hour
