The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander of Fleet, Supply and Weapon Services Bureau (FSWSB) are seeking a qualified individual to join our team. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will be responsible for preparing print files, operating digital printing and finishing equipment, troubleshooting production issues, and delivering high-quality printed materials while meeting service commitments and deadlines.

**This role requires the successful candidate to be physically present at the OPP General Headquarters Monday through Friday. **

This EOI is for a 6-month temporary opportunity with the possibility of extension. The results of this competition will be used to fill future temporary and permanent opportunities with qualified eligible candidates within the unit during the next 12 months following the competition closing. Prior to submitting your resume/covering letter, please notify your manager of your intentions to apply to this competition. Regular employees are required to have manager approval to participate and to accept a temporary assignment. If a regular member is the successful candidate, they would return to their home position at the conclusion of the temporary opportunity. Only business-related expenses will be provided. The Fleet, Supply and Weapons Services Bureau's (FSWSB) broad scope of business impacts every member of the OPP. With few exceptions, all fleet assets, weapons, uniforms, and related equipment used across the organization are procured, managed, and distributed through FSWSB. Print Services provides specialized support by delivering printing, duplicating, binding, laminating, and scanning services that help meet operational and administrative needs across the province.

Working largely behind the scenes, FSWSB members deliver expertise in strategic planning, purchasing, fleet and equipment management, vehicle services, and garage operations, helping to ensure the OPP remains equipped, operational, and ready to serve. About the job

What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Prepare, review, and process electronic print files for production using Adobe Creative Suite, Fiery, Microsoft Office, and related software.
  • Perform digital prepress functions, including file setup, colour management, proofing, imposition, and quality control.
  • Operate digital presses, cutting, punching, drilling, laminating, binding, and finishing equipment.
  • Consult with clients to clarify requirements, provide recommendations, and communicate timelines and job status updates.
  • Package, label, and prepare printed materials for distribution and delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order consumable supplies and service requirements through supplier portals.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot production equipment issues.
  • Provide support and backup coverage for the Production Printer & Designer when required.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.

Mandatory requirements

  • Ability to pass OPP background security investigation.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Print Production & Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of digital printing processes, file preparation, colour management, and print finishing techniques.
  • Operates and maintains high-speed digital presses and bindery equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Understands print specifications including bleeds, margins, pagination, imposition, paper stocks, and finishing requirements.
  • Applies quality control standards to ensure accurate, professional, and high-quality print output.

Attention to Detail & Quality Assurance

  • Reviews files and production requirements thoroughly to identify and correct errors before printing.
  • Ensures accuracy of formatting, colour consistency, image quality, and final product specifications.
  • Maintains a high level of precision while working with multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities.
  • Produces work that consistently meets organizational standards and client expectations.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally when discussing project requirements, timelines, costs, and production challenges.
  • Provides recommendations and cost-effective solutions to meet client needs.
  • Responds effectively to inquiries while managing expectations and service commitments.

Problem Solving & Initiative

  • Identifies production, equipment, and workflow issues and implements practical solutions.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and coordinates service when required.
  • Prioritizes competing requests and adapts quickly to changing operational demands.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, accountability, and initiative while working independently or as part of a team.
