The base salary will be $63,730 - $90,820 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

The Family Medicine Postgraduate Program is one of the largest programs at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, consisting of over 180 residents conducting their core residency training at 12 different sites across southwestern Ontario and 20 Residents training in the Enhanced Skills Program. To ensure the role of ‘scholar’ is met, completion of a resident project (research and quality improvement) is a mandatory requirement for all Western Family Medicine residents to complete the program.

The Academic Program Coordinator role provides expertise, coordination, and support for Family Medicine residents in the area of academic education. It is the responsibility of the role to guide and contribute knowledge to the planning, execution, evaluation, and dissemination of resident projects. The Academic Program Coordinator is involved in the development, coordination, and evaluation of the academic curriculum. The role takes a collaborative and consultative approach with residents, full-time faculty, community faculty, and other support persons.

Education:

• University Degree in Health Sciences or related area
• Master’s Degree in Health Sciences or related area, Project Management or Quality Improvement Certification preferred

Experience:

• 3 years experience in a University research environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge in research design/execution/implementation, including quantitative/qualitative inquiry and methods, data management, ethical implications, and statistical analysis of health-related research
• Strong knowledge base in various Quality Improvement methods and tools
• Knowledge in program evaluation and learner assessment
• Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills with demonstrated ability to develop and conduct training sessions and coach residents and faculty
• Sound decision-making and critical appraisal skills with an eye for continuous improvement
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem solving skills with an ability to offer creative solutions
• Ability to champion a project from conception to implementation and evaluation
• Demonstrated ability to work in and respond to a complex environment while dealing with competing demands and changing priorities
• Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset
• Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS)
• Self-driven and highly motivated with a strong commitment to ongoing learning
• Strong client focus and a desire to achieve results and an intrinsic passion for quality
• High degree of professionalism with outstanding ability to work effectively and efficiently with internal and external clients
