Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Maki Sushi Roller to join our vibrant culinary team. We are a busy viral sushi shop on Baldwin St. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and experience in food preparation and service. This role involves preparing high-quality sushi rolls in a fast-paced restaurant environment, ensuring an exceptional experience for our guests. Candidates with restaurant or kitchen experience, especially within the food industry, are encouraged to apply. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills and grow within our dynamic team.

We are flexible. Open to 3-4 hour lunch rush shifts, if that works for you as well as full shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Skillfully prepare and roll Maki sushi according to established recipes and presentation standards working in an open kitchen
  • Assist in the preparation of other sushi items and related Japanese cuisine
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in compliance with food safety regulations
  • Handle food ingredients with proper hygiene practices and ensure freshness at all times
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy hours
  • Interact with customers and influencers
  • Follow all food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures diligently
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and maintaining professional conduct

Experience

  • Prior experience in serving, food preparation, or cooking within a restaurant or food service setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and meal preparation techniques is highly desirable
  • Experience working in the food industry in an open kitchen environment
  • Must have sushi making experience, especially Maki and Futomaki rolls
  • Familiarity with a variety of fish; Otoro, Chutoro, Akami, Madai, Hamachi, Kampachi...
  • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and adherence to health regulations are essential for success in this role

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
