TAPS Program Cook – Part-Time

Desert Sun Counselling & Resource Centre

9-15 hours per week | $22-$25.00/hour | Oliver & Osoyoos, BC

Are you passionate about cooking nutritious, made from scratch meals and creating meaningful connections with seniors in our community? Desert Sun Counselling & Resource Centre is looking for a compassionate, organized, and community-minded individual to join our TAPS (Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors) team.

This position plays a vital role in enhancing the well-being of older adults in our community by providing nutritious meals, fostering meaningful social connection, and maintaining welcoming, inclusive gathering spaces. The successful candidate will be instrumental in creating a warm, respectful, and uplifting experience for seniors participating in our TAPS programming at both our Oliver and Osoyoos locations.

Schedule

  • Mondays & Tuesdays – Osoyoos
  • Wednesdays & Thursdays – Oliver
  • Approx. 9-15 hours per week total

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and prepare healthy, home cooked, nutritious meals for seniors
  • Grocery shop within program budgets
  • Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
  • Responsible for kitchen clean-up and meal-related organization
  • Help create a welcoming and supportive environment for seniors attending the program

What We’re Looking For

✔ Food Safe Certification (required)
✔ Experience with meal preparation or cooking in a community/commercial kitchen preferred
✔ Compassionate, patient, and community-minded
✔ Organized and reliable with strong time management skills
✔ Ability to work independently
✔ Understanding of seniors’ nutritional needs is an asset
