NWCC Marine Services is looking for a seasonal Master Limited (60GT) Captain

The Norman Wells Claimant Corporation (“NWCC”), a wholly owned and operated indigenous corporation, is seeking interested applicants to fill seasonal Master Limited (Captain) position for NWCC’s Marine Services with two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off rotational basis. Interested applicants must be available for training and orientation in Norman Wells, NT.

Camp accommodation and food will be provided, along with transportation.

NWCC’s Marine Services operates in a highly regulated oil and gas field. All crew members will require clearance of pre-access drug & alcohol testing and may be subject to additional random testing and spot checks throughout the operating season.

Candidates must be able to attend orientation and training at least 3 days prior to the start of rotation in Norman Wells.

The main duties of the Master Limited (60GT) Captain shall consist of, but not limited to, the following:

- the safe operation of the vessel at all times

- the vessel complies with local and international law

- the safety of all personnel on board

- the safe carriage of cargo or tow, and

- preparing voyage plans and recording all the vessel’s activities.

Minimal Qualifications:

- Master, Limited for Vessel less than 60 Gross Tonnage

- MED Basic Safety and Small Passenger Vessel Safety (MED A1 & A2)

- MED STCW Advanced Firefighting Course (MED C)

- Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime Commercial

- Marine Basic First Aid

- Small Vessel Machinery Operator (without restriction) Certificate

Additional Qualifications or ability to receive training in:

- CSTS 2020 or Equivalent.

- H2S Aware.

- Transportation of Dangerous Goods.

- WHIMIS

Desired Attributes:

- Able to accurately perform record-keeping tasks.

- Able to meet and deal with the public in a diplomatic and courteous manner.

- Able to receive and follow instructions from supervisor(s).

Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour
