Chief Mate (Watchkeeping Mate Near Coastal)

We have an opening for a Chief Mate to work on one of our vessels based primarily in Placentia Bay. This is a full-time year-round position with a 3 week on/off schedule.

This is open to candidates who live in Newfoundland. A background with technologically advanced vessels and experience with ship handling is an asset. Applicants must also be willing and interested in working outdoors in a hands on roll.

FSV Services NL is a subsidiary of Trident Aqua Services, based in Norway. With a fleet of modern vessels, Trident is one of the leading providers of service vessels, well boats and feed carriers in the aquaculture industry. The vessels are fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, which allow them to operate safely and effectively. Our Canadian fleet of service vessels includes four modern vessels.

Qualifications

  • Watchkeeping Mate Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or FM4 Certificate of Competency with relevant experience.
  • Valid Transport Canada Marine Medical
  • Valid ROC-MC (or higher certificate)
  • Valid MED’s
  • Valid Basic First Aid (or higher certificate)
  • Ability and willingness to do hands on work on deck.
  • Aquaculture experience is an asset.
  • AHTS, Dynamic Positioning, ROV, and Fishing Experience are considered assets.
  • Other seagoing experience is an asset.
  • Physical fitness.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others

Candidates new to the Aquaculture sector are welcome.
