Summary of Duties:

Provision of Social Work services to clients and families in Odette’s Patient & Family Support Program caring for patients with breast cancer at an advanced level of practice within an interprofessional model (0.6 FTE).


0.1 FTE (equivalent to a half day per week) would be dedicated to supporting patients seen in the IndYGO (Individualized Care for Gynecologic Oncology Patients) Clinic. The IndYGO Clinic provides specialized care and support for young patients with gynecologic malignancies. As part of the multidisciplinary team, the social worker would provide psychosocial support to patients and their families, including mental health counseling, grief support, and facilitation of patient support groups.


This includes: completion of psychosocial assessments; leading or participating in Advance Care Planning and/or Goals of Care conversations; provision of counselling and emotional support; conducting group work; locating and arranging resources; consultation/collaboration; teaching; participating in research; administration and professional development.


Qualifications/Skills:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work required.
  • Must be a current member in good standing with the OCSWSSW.
  • Minimum 5 years’ previous experience working in a health care setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated Psychosocial Oncology knowledge preferred.
  • Psychosocial provision of care to those with breast cancer, gynaecological preferred.
  • Proven excellent assessment, counselling and problem solving skills essential.
  • Superior communication, negotiation, mediation and collaborative interprofessional team skills required.
  • Well-established knowledge of relevant health care system processes and community resources required.
  • Superior time management, organization, and prioritization skills in addressing multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Proven commitment to person and family-centred care essential.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to academic practice required.
  • Student education required
