Full job description

The New Mummy Company is dedicated to supporting families through pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting stages. We offer personalized services for prenatal, labor, and postpartum care to families across various regions.

We are currently expanding our team in Vancouver and the lower mainland and are seeking compassionate, experienced and reliable Newborn Care Providers to join our growing team. We are looking for candidates with professional newborn care experience as Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Practical Nurses (RPN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Postpartum Doulas, Newborn Care Specialists (NCS), or Midwives.

The role involves providing support and education to families during the critical early weeks and months at home with a newborn, with an emphasis on overnight care. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the baby is safe and comfortable while allowing parents time to rest, sleep and recover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overnight care for newborns, including feeding, diaper changes, soothing, and monitoring (minimum 8 hours to maximum 12 hours overnight)
  • Provide breastfeeding and/or pumping support to new parents.
  • Provide safe sleep for babies and safe sleep education for new parents
  • Assist with developing safe and healthy age appropriate sleep routines for babies.
  • Offer emotional support, guidance, and education to parents during the postpartum period.
  • Monitor the baby’s well-being and report any concerns promptly.
  • Maintain professionalism and respect while working in family homes.
  • Provide parents with detailed notes of care provided overnight
  • Stay updated with best practices in newborn care and safe sleep guidelines.
  • Completing all required nursery duties overnight in caring for a newborn and providing respite to new parents.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Healthcare background (RN, RPN, LPN, or Midwifery) is a strong asset.
  • Certification as a Postpartum Doula, Newborn Care Specialist, or similar certification.
  • At least 2 years of recent postpartum care and/or newborn care experience within the last 3 years.
  • Current CPR + C certification or PALS/PEARS etc (must be renewed annually).
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (PIC) (current or willingness to obtain, renewed annually).
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada (No sponsorship available).
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle access preferred.

We welcome applicants with international experience, including nurses, midwives, paediatricians, and OB/GYN specialists. Canadian experience is not required, and we value all relevant international experience but this must be within the last 3 years and you will need verifiable references.

  • Positions available: Full-time and part-time - flexible to suit your schedule.
  • Location: In-person - Vancouver and the lower mainland
