Job Posting: Homeless Prevention Worker in Beautiful Northern BC
We are looking for a Homeless Prevention Program. The primary role of this position is to connect people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness with housing. The position directly engages individuals and families by assessing client needs, supporting personal goals, and connecting clients with housing and appropriate services.
Permanent full-time position.
Wage: $22.20-$27.27

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Engage people who are experiencing homelessness, including those living in public places
  • Engage people who are at risk of homelessness
  • Assess client needs and assist clients in identifying and working toward personal goals
  • Refer clients to appropriate housing options
  • Refer clients to appropriate support services
  • Accompany clients to appointments where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with community partners, service providers, and housing-related supports
  • Maintain professional, non-judgmental, and respectful communication with clients, colleagues, and community partners
  • Follow contract requirements, organizational policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and confidentiality expectations
Qualifications:
  • Relevant post-secondary degree or diploma in the social services field or a minimum of 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of both
  • Experience delivering services related to homelessness
  • Knowledge of tenancy and landlord rights and obligations
  • Knowledge of community development and social planning in a northern rural community
  • Knowledge of community resources and services, including access to employment, education, social, and health services
  • Effective communication skills with clients and community colleagues
Additional Requirements:
  • Current Class 5 Driver’s License and personal vehicle for work use, preferred
  • Available Monday to Friday, and be able to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Experience working with children is preferred but not required
