This position is based in Nunavut, Canada and will require travel.

Our extensive experience has us well positioned to provide full-service construction and development management services including land assessment, architectural design, engineering, permitting, project management, on-site construction and warranty services. We are seeking an experienced Multi-Family Working Foreman with strong carpentry skills to perform tasks that require physical effort. This role will be based in Northern Canada; the qualified candidate must be comfortable with travelling and spending time in remote communities. You possess critical thinking abilities to support the Site Superintendent on challenging projects in challenging climates. You should be a dedicated team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment while helping to build a positive and productive team culture. BDL offers competitive compensation and benefits package for this position.

You will be responsible for:

  • Promote a culture of safety, enforce safety regulations and ensures that all workers are equipped with the necessary PPE.
  • Collaborate with the Site Superintendent to ensure project runs smoothly.
  • Coordinate construction activities on-site, including directing BDL labour and contractors on specific scopes to maintain project construction schedules.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to construction standards.
  • Implement and enforce environmental and safety regulations on-site.
  • Resolve conflicts or issues that arise during construction, escalating as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and reports.

We would like you to have:

  • 5 years' experience multi-family wood frame construction. Backed by strong knowledge of construction methods and regulations.
  • Valid Driver's licence and certification to operate applicable equipment, holding other safety tickets in good standing would be an asset.
  • Knowledgeable with various types of hand tools & equipment, including tasks such as lifting heavy objects, operating machinery, performing manual labor-intensive activities.
  • Commitment to safety and safe work practices on the job site.
  • Possesses strong leadership and interpersonal skills, proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven record of strong communication skills (written and verbal).
