Heavy Duty Engine Technician

Independent Rebuild Specialist is currently seeking experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics / Technicians to join our growing field service team supporting mining and heavy industrial operations in Northern Alberta.

We specialize in Caterpillar engine diagnostics, rebuilds, overhauls, and field service support for mining and heavy equipment operations across Canada and the United States. Our team works on some of the industry’s largest CAT engines and mining equipment in demanding field environments.

We are looking for motivated technicians with strong engine, mining, and diagnostic experience who take pride in quality workmanship, safety, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild CAT diesel engines
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, engine swaps, and commissioning
  • Work on heavy mining equipment including haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and shovels
  • Complete inspections, pressure checks, adjustments, and failure analysis
  • Accurately complete service reports and required documentation
  • Maintain company safety standards and site procedures
  • Work independently and collaboratively in field environments

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic / Off-Road Red Seal preferred
  • Strong engine, mining, and diagnostic experience required
  • Experience with CAT engines and equipment is considered a strong asset
  • Previous field service or mining experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work safely in fast-paced environments
