Job Description

We are currently searching for a full-time split shift (30 hours per week) Registered Early Childhood Educator for our Rathburn/Kipling location. The daycare has a strong reputation in the community. The successful candidate must be open to and capable of working children from Kindergarten and school-age children.

2 years childcare experience is preferred for this position. However, candidates with a demonstrated record of expertise in excess of this minimum years-of-practice-requirement will be given preferential consideration

Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and planning of an age-appropriate inclusive play-based learning and care program which enhances their cognitive, social, physical and emotional development of children in his/her care.

Responsible for the planning, implementation and delivery of an inclusive play-based learning program which is developmentally and culturally appropriate program which meets the needs of the children.

Implements an anti-bias curriculum by promoting diversity and acceptance of individual differences.

Facilitates and guides the development and behaviour of children.

Implements individual plans (IPs) by integrating identified goals into the daily program & routines.

Establishes routines with clearly identifiable transition periods.

Prepares a weekly written program plan using a variety of resources and materials.

Consults with specialists and other professionals regarding additional support.

Conducts child observations and prepares reports as assigned.

Promotes the centre's philosophy and communicates issues to parents in a positive, professional and respectful manner.

Forms collaborative partnerships with families

Keeps accurate records of: daily attendance, daily activity plans.

Attends regular staff meetings and participates by contributing information.

Performs housekeeping and simple meal preparation/setup

Ability to clearly present thoughts and to ask specific questions to clarify.

Ensures health and safety of each child.

Qualifications and Skills

The position is full-time for 30 hours split sift per week. Approximate hours are 7:30-10/2:30-6

Shifts will be modified for school P.A days, Christmas break, March break and summer time when children are at the daycare for a full day of care.

Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of practice and exceptional skills in childcare and, in particular, with identified age-groups where staffing is most needed

The current hourly rate is $31.77 for a Registered Early Childhood Educator. (This rate does not include the Provincial wage enhancement)

Any offers of employment made by NYLPD to successful candidates will be conditional on the candidate having the legal right to work in Canada as of the date the offer of employment is effective. Successful candidates will require an up-to-date criminal reference, CPR (level C) certified and have a health form filled out with Ministry required immunizations.

The successful candidate must be a graduate with an EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION DIPLOMA to qualify for this position.

Two years childcare experience is preferred for this position. Experience working with children with toddlers and preschoolers is a definite asset.

The successful candidate must be available to be scheduled for split shifts Monday-Friday weekly between hours of 7:30-6:00pm
