Board of Directors Opportunity – Affordable Seniors Housing

Do you worry about seniors facing devastating housing crisis due to the impact of inflation and a lack of affordable rentals?

So do we!

Chalmers Foundation, a local not-for-profit specializing in affordable housing for seniors, is currently to expand their board of directors to provide oversight for the operations of Rideau Retirement Residence in Burnaby.

Rideau Retirement Residence provides seniors with affordable housing with a focus on holistic personal and community living. Our residents enjoy a strong sense of community as well as the psyche-social activities they most enjoy, whether they are choosing to live independently or are taking advantage of our assisted living services.

Rideau Retirement Residence is registered under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act of B.C. and is recognized as most affordable among private pay Assisted Living Residences in the Lower Mainland.

Our current board of directors is collaborative, enthusiastic and progressive representing diverse backgrounds such as education, finance, social services, public sector leadership, communication and marketing.

Board Member Job Description

We are excited to welcome up to two new volunteer board members who believe in our mission and values to help us continue to build a robust organization.

As a board member you will join our monthly conversations where we monitor the fiscal performance and provide oversight into the financial operation of Rideau Residence. We further ensure that we are meeting our obligations in the areas of regulatory compliance and governance.

Further, our board has an eye on the future and are looking for ways to expand our ability to support seniors. These strategic conversations lead to the empowerment of board members to help us pursue these goals as part of sub-committees.

Perhaps most importantly, our board of directors ensure that we are living our values through our decision making and every interaction that we have – both at Rideau Retirement Residence and in the broader community.

Join us to be part of the team supporting one of Vancouvers largest not-for-profit specializing in affordable housing for seniors.
