Niagara Clifton Group is currently hiring a Kitchen Supervisor for our Niagara Clifton Restaurant.

Niagara Clifton Family Restaurant is a high-volume local staple, serving up all the homestyle favourites at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Located right in the heart of Clifton Hill, our guests enjoy quality service along with classic meal options at a great price.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager and General Manager, the Kitchen Supervisor supports day-to-day restaurant operations with a primary focus on back-of-house leadership, food quality, service standards, workplace safety, sanitation, inventory controls, and positive team culture. This role provides guidance to kitchen team members, supports food preparation and presentation standards, assists with operational efficiency and cost controls, and helps create a welcoming, professional, safe, and positive dining experience for guests.

Shifts: Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Type: Seasonal; Full-Time / Part-Time

Compensation: Starting from $20.00/hr

Responsibilities:

· Lead by example by maintaining a professional, positive, friendly, and respectful attitude with staff, guests, and management.

· Support back-of-house operations, including kitchen line support, expediting, prep assistance, dishwashing, and guest service as operationally required.

· Supervise kitchen team members in the preparation and presentation of food items to ensure timeliness, consistency, quality, recipe adherence, and portion specifications.

· Coach, train, support, and provide clear direction to team members while fostering a safe, inclusive, respectful, and team-oriented workplace.

· Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of new employees.

· Apply and support compliance with company policies, SOPs, food safety and sanitation standards, workplace safety guidelines, WHMIS requirements, SDS binders, and emergency response procedures.

· Maintain inventory controls for food, supplies, first aid kits, and related restaurant materials, including portion control, FIFO standards, specification adherence, and loss reduction.

· Support productivity, task execution, shift flow, and guest service by assigning breaks, delegating tasks, and addressing operational or performance concerns appropriately.

· Communicate operational updates to management and complete daily reports as required.

· Address guest concerns professionally using effective conflict resolution, empathy, and active listening.

· Monitor equipment, cleanliness, maintenance needs, and safety concerns, and promptly report or follow up on deficiencies with Management, IT, or Maintenance as needed.

· Attend to emergency situations and employee or guest incidents in accordance with company procedures, including completing documentation and follow-up reports as required.

· Maintain and enforce standards for punctuality, uniform/dress code, safe work practices, cleanliness, food safety, sanitation, and Niagara Clifton Group policies.

· Perform other duties as assigned by Management, Niagara Clifton Group operations, and/or Niagara Clifton Group’s Director of Operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, twisting, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Using hands or fingers to handle, feel, prepare, and assemble food items.
  • Regular use of sharp cutting instruments and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. (27.22 kg).

Qualifications:

  • 1–2 years of back-of-house supervisory or management experience in a high-volume restaurant environment required.
  • Experience in a customer service, restaurant, or hospitality environment required.
  • Experience supervising, directing work, training, coaching, and supporting team members required.
  • Experience with front-of-house restaurant supervision is an asset.
  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education in hospitality management, culinary arts, business, or a related field is preferred.

· Food Handler Certification required.

· Knowledge of safe knife handling required.

· First Aid Certification is an asset.

· WHMIS training is an asset.

· HACCP training is an asset.

· Strong organization, time-management, planning, leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain professional in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, collaborative team that values different perspectives.

· Must be available to work varied schedules, including early mornings, days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
