Full job description

What you will do

  • Inspections, Testing & Maintenance on all water-based and other Fire Protection Systems. These include but are not limited to, Wet systems, dry, pre-action, deluge and fire pumps, Backflow preventers, Fire Hydrants, Class I, II, III Manual & Automatic Standpipe, Dry Standpipe
  • Execute projects on an ongoing basis in accordance with local codes and standards
  • Contact customer representative to assess and maintain equipment and efficiently work out systems problems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
  • Exhibit effective customer service skills by consistently communicating with the district staff and customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Electronically complete reports detailing deficiencies and solutions to conduct repairs
  • Participate in a scheduled, compensated, on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be apart of an ongoing growing organizing with unlimited potential for future positions in project planning, coordination, sales, ect.

What we look for

Required

  • 3+ years of documented experience in the Fire Protection Industry
  • Current Red Seal Journeyperson Ticket (Would also consider apprentices)
  • In depth knowledge of all NFPA & provincial codes related to the above job scopes
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently with minimum field supervision
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Able to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Overnight travel will be required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.,
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • A greater consideration will be given to those with experience in other related fields within our companies’ service list, not limited to, Fire alarm, Extinguishers and Suppression systems

The following would be ideal, but not required to be considered for hire

  • AWWA or equivalent certification for cross connection inspection, service and maintenance
  • Fire Hydrant Inspection, Service and maintenance certification
  • CFAA Ticket
  • Fire Extinguisher ticket
  • Kitchen Suppression certification

The ideal candidate will strive to expand our operations to new heights, working with the Sprinkler division manager to execute primarily inspections and service, with some small projects already in the pipeline. Being a part of the team will help expand operations and take on new, challenging tasks in western Canada

Wage ranges based on experience. Can be negotiated during interview process

  • Installation: 2 years (preferred)
  • Fire Sprinkler System Service/Install: 3 years (preferred)
