Role Overview

As Operations & Franchise Support Manager, you'll be a hands-on leader in our Ottawa restaurants and a key part of how we grow Mad Radish across Canada.

You'll take direct responsibility for the performance of a designated Ottawa restaurant while providing hands-on leadership and operational support across our Ottawa market. You'll coach managers, develop future leaders, strengthen our standards, and drive improvements in sales, guest experience, and profitability.

As you learn our business, you'll take on a bigger role with our franchise partners: training them, supporting new openings, and showing prospective franchisees how we support our partners.

Reporting to our Director of Operations and working closely with our CEO, you'll be part of the team that drives the business forward. This role is for someone who brings ideas to the table, takes ownership of results, and wants to grow with us.

Key Responsibilities

Restaurant Operations & Performance

  • Take direct accountability for the performance of a designated Ottawa restaurant and provide hands-on operational support and managerial coverage across other locations as needed.
  • Lead by example in our restaurants and consistently deliver our standards for food quality, speed of service, cleanliness, and guest experience.
  • Grow store and catering sales, and improve labour, food cost and profitability.
  • Monitor KPIs and P&L results, identify issues early and implement action plans to improve performance.

People & Leadership

  • Coach and develop managers and their teams through clear expectations, training and consistent follow-through.
  • Build strong leadership teams and develop future leaders through coaching and succession planning.
  • Hold teams accountable for results, recognise great work and foster a positive, high-performing culture.

Franchise Support & Growth

  • Support our franchise partners in running great restaurants and maintaining brand standards.
  • Train new franchisees and managers in Ottawa, Toronto and future franchise markets.
  • Support new restaurant openings by coordinating operational readiness, training, and launch activities with franchisees and project teams.
  • Over time, meet with prospective franchisees to explain how we support our partners, and represent Mad Radish at franchise shows and industry events.

Leadership Team

  • Proactively identify opportunities to grow sales, improve operations, and strengthen the customer experience, bringing forward ideas and taking ownership of implementing them.
  • Work closely with our CEO and Director of Operations on company priorities, operational improvements, and future growth initiatives.

This role will evolve with the business and your strengths.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of restaurant management experience, including 2+ years leading multiple locations or developing managers, ideally in QSR or fast casual.
  • A track record of improving sales, guest experience, labour and food cost, with the numbers to show it.
  • Experience supporting franchise operations, new restaurant openings or management training programmes is an asset.
  • Hands-on leadership style: as comfortable running a busy lunch as coaching a manager.
  • Strong business judgement, initiative and the ability to carry projects through to completion.
  • Clear, confident communicator with team members, franchise partners and senior leadership.
  • Based in Ottawa, with flexibility to work around restaurant operating hours.
  • Able to travel as the business grows, including trips to Toronto and new franchise markets.
