Full job description

About Us

We’re launching a new bakery café that combines artisanal baking, craft coffee, and warm hospitality to create a community hub for food lovers and locals alike. Our mission is to offer thoughtfully made pastries, breads, and beverages in an inviting, modern setting where quality and service shine equally.

We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Café Manager to lead our opening and daily operations — someone passionate about people, service, and building a brand from the ground up.

Position Overview

The Café Manager oversees the café’s daily operations, manages staff, maintains product and service quality, and ensures an exceptional guest experience. You’ll be responsible for building and leading the team, supporting our kitchen and bakery operations, and driving financial performance.

This is a dynamic, full-time role ideal for someone who loves both the creative and operational sides of hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Leadership

  • Oversee all front-of-house and café operations to ensure smooth daily service
  • Recruit, train, and motivate baristas, servers, and support staff
  • Schedule and supervise staff to maintain efficiency and excellent service
  • Implement opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS management
  • Work closely with the bakery and kitchen teams to coordinate inventory and menu changes

Customer Experience

  • Create and maintain a welcoming, customer-focused environment
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally
  • Foster a culture of warmth, efficiency, and pride in quality

Financial Management

  • Monitor daily sales, cost of goods, and labour targets
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and supplier relationships
  • Prepare weekly reports and collaborate with ownership on sales strategies and budgets

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and health regulations are always met
  • Maintain the café’s visual standards and brand presentation

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience managing a café, bakery, or restaurant (preferably in a startup or opening environment)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Passion for coffee, baking, and hospitality
  • Proficient in POS systems, scheduling tools, and basic financial tracking
  • Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Performance-based bonuses
  • Staff meal and coffee benefits
  • Opportunities for growth as the café expands
  • Supportive and creative work culture

How to Apply

Please send your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your café management experience and why you’re passionate about bakery cafés.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
