The Virsa Mahal is a premier 100% vegetarian fine-dining Punjabi restaurant located in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (10344 105 Street NW). Opened in August 2025, it offers heritage-inspired decor, a royal candlelight ambiance, and authentic North Indian and Indo-Chinese cuisine

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic Retail Store Manager to lead our retail team to success! In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily store operations, drive sales growth, and ensure exceptional customer service. Your leadership will inspire your team, optimize store performance, and create a welcoming environment that encourages repeat business. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with strong management skills to make a significant impact within a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of store operations, including sales, inventory control, merchandising, and customer service.
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard new employees while providing ongoing training and development to ensure team excellence.
  • Oversee employee orientation programs and promote a positive work environment that fosters teamwork and motivation.
  • Manage payroll, bookkeeping, cash handling, and POS (Point of Sale) systems to ensure accurate financial transactions.
  • Maintain inventory management through stock monitoring, purchasing decisions, pricing strategies, and inventory control procedures.
  • Supervise daily shift activities, including cashiering, customer interactions, and store cleanliness to uphold high standards.
  • Implement marketing initiatives and promotional strategies to increase foot traffic and sales performance.
  • Utilize management skills to analyze sales data, develop budgets, and execute operational improvements for sustained growth.

Skills

  • Proven experience in retail management with strong supervisory skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively and manage managerial responsibilities confidently.
  • Proficiency in POS systems, inventory management software, and basic math for sales calculations and budgeting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently across various operational areas such as merchandising, stocking, and pricing.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills for purchasing negotiations and vendor relations.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse customer bases effectively.
  • Experience in employee orientation, interviewing candidates, recruiting top talent, and conducting training sessions.
  • Knowledge of retail industry sales techniques including wireless sales or grocery store experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining excellent phone etiquette and customer service standards.
  • Leadership qualities that inspire team management, operational oversight, and strategic planning for store success.
