Westpower is the leading North American rotating equipment solutions provider, with services spanning industrial and engineered pumps, reliability and lubrication products, field service and repair solutions that enhance performance.

The Applications Engineer (E.I.T) will be part of our growing and dynamic sales/ applications team. The successful candidate will learn about our capital equipment, all while working with sales to provide technical guidance on client opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to, participating in product triage meetings, creating quotes, attending client meetings, and addressing client bid clarifications. Incumbent must be driven to succeed in a customer service environment in a sales capacity.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Graduate of Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Strong business development skills, customer service focus, and sales acumen.
  • Ideal candidate would have rotating equipment experience and knowledge of API and ANSI specifications.
  • Highly organized, with strong time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to complete assignments with little oversight.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the sales team to learn our technical and service advantages in the Western Canadian market.
  • Assists in the selection and quotation of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps and mixers.
  • Highlights the technical advantages of the Westpower product line to the customer.
  • Regular pro-active customer communications, including technical guidance, troubleshooting, status reports, problem tracking and clarifications.
  • Responsible for order write up, submission to operations and responding to internal clarification requests.
  • Closes jobs by responding to inquiries, verifying information and entering into system (Accounting and CRM).
  • Develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential customers: builds rapport, provides technical information and explanations.
  • Expands accounts by researching existing customers; including reviewing buying history and suggesting related and new items.
  • Summarize and analyze competitor information to assess trends and identify sales opportunities.
  • Accepts accountability for organizational goals by contributing to various internal and external requests.
  • Explores opportunities and improvements to add value to the department and organization.
  • Coordinate with sub suppliers to ensure the selection and quotation of sub vendor items meets customer specifications
  • Extensive interaction with customers, suppliers, partner companies, and internal departments
  • Active in personal development; studies new products and technologies, attends training and development opportunities.
  • Supports outside Sales as needed to ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Project management of in-house orders
  • All other job duties as required
