About Saskatchewan Harm Reduction Resource Network

Saskatchewan Harm Reduction Resource Network is a grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to promoting evidence-based drug policy, harm reduction, public education, and compassionate approaches to substance use. We work to amplify the voices of people with lived and living experience, educate the public, and advocate for policies that prioritize health, dignity, human rights, and community safety.

We are currently leading the Voluntary Treatment First Petition Campaign, a province-wide initiative aimed at giving Saskatchewan residents a voice in shaping drug policy and advocating for voluntary, evidence-based treatment options.

We are seeking a motivated, organized, and people-focused individual to lead volunteer recruitment, engagement, and coordination efforts for this campaign.

Position Overview

The Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination Lead will be responsible for developing and managing a volunteer network to support petition signature collection, public outreach, community engagement, and campaign growth throughout Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the campaign's reach by identifying, recruiting, training, supporting, and retaining volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies.
  • Recruit volunteers through social media, community outreach, networking, events, and partnerships.
  • Respond promptly to volunteer inquiries.
  • Conduct volunteer screening and onboarding

Volunteer Management

  • Maintain regular communication with volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments.
  • Match volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on skills and availability.
  • Track volunteer participation and engagement.
  • Maintain volunteer databases and records.

Training & Support

  • Develop volunteer orientation materials.
  • Provide training on petition collection procedures and campaign messaging
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer questions and concerns.
  • Ensure volunteers have the tools and information needed to succeed.

Retention & Engagement

  • Foster a positive and supportive volunteer culture.
  • Develop volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to increase volunteer participation and retention.
  • Encourage leadership development among volunteers.

Community Outreach

  • Build relationships with community organizations, supporters, and stakeholders.
  • Help identify opportunities for volunteer recruitment and public engagement.
  • Assist in organizing outreach events, information sessions, and canvassing opportunities.

Reporting

  • Track volunteer recruitment metrics and activity levels.
  • Provide regular updates on volunteer engagement and campaign growth.
  • Recommend improvements to volunteer recruitment and retention strategies

Qualifications

Required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Comfortable communicating by phone, email, text message, and social media
  • Reliable access to high-speed internet.
  • Must own or have reliable access to a laptop or computer.
  • Must own and regularly use a smartphone.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Passion for community engagement and grassroots organizing.

Preferred / Assets

  • Experience recruiting, managing, or coordinating volunteers.
  • Experience with advocacy campaigns, nonprofit organizations, community initiatives, political campaigns, or public outreach.
  • Experience organizing events or volunteer activities.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and online recruitment methods.
  • Valid Saskatchewan driver's licence.
  • Access to or ownership of a reliable vehicle.
  • Formal Volunteer Management Certificate or related training is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset.
