Toronto Water Bikes offers unique and eco-friendly ways to explore Toronto’s waterfront during the summer. We are Toronto’s premier watercraft rental company, offering water bikes, crystal clear kayaks, and paddleboards to create one-of-a-kind experiences on the water. We provide a fun and safe outdoor experience for locals and tourists alike, combining fitness, relaxation, and stunning views. As a seasonal business, we’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused individuals to join our team and help us deliver unforgettable waterfront adventures.

Overview

We are hiring summer staff to support with daily watercraft rental operations to ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience for all customers. If you love being outdoors, meeting new people, and working in a dynamic environment, this job is for you.

Please note: Work is weather permitted and may be cancelled during inclement weather.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open and set up the site, including the kiosk, watercraft equipment, signage and games, and ensuring everything is ready for operation.
  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner; check them in and out of their reservation using our booking system via company iPads.
  • Process customer payments efficiently using a POS device.
  • Prepare watercrafts before each ride, including cleaning, inspecting, and confirming all customer belongings are removed post-adventure.
  • Distribute safety equipment and gear such as life jackets, waterproof phone cases, and fanny packs to all guests.
  • Deliver clear and engaging safety briefings prior to each ride; assist customers safely on and off their watercrafts, both on the dock and on the shore depending on the watercraft type.
  • Supervise customers throughout their ride from the shore or while aboard the safety boat (if you have a PCOC), ensuring their well-being and providing support in case of emergencies or unexpected situations.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or damaged equipment to management.
  • Enforce all site policies and procedures with both customers and the public to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding rentals and assist walk-in guests with reservations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times, including the kiosk, dock area, and any other on-site stations.
  • Address any customer concerns or complaints professionally and collaborate with management to resolve issues.
  • Assist with site close-down at the end of the day, including cleaning and storing watercrafts, closing the kiosk, and organizing all equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service or sales experience (hospitality, tourism, or recreation is a plus)
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal, to communicate effectively with customers.

Abilities & Requirements

  • Strong swimmer and confident in water; must be comfortable entering shallow water (up to knee-deep) as needed.
  • Physically fit and capable of light labour, including lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., and comfortable with prolonged standing, frequent bending and kneeling as part of daily tasks.
  • Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, humidity, wind, and light rain.
  • Available to work weekends and holidays.

Preferred Certifications (not required but an asset)

  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)
  • National Lifeguard (NL) Certification
  • Standard First Aid & CPR
