Are you an experienced mechanic looking to shift your career into the aviation industry?

MTU Maintenance Canada is excited to offer our Gas Turbine Engine Mechanic Cross-Trade Training Academy. This is a specialized, fully paid 14-week training pathway designed to support skilled mechanics from other industries in transitioning into a MTU certified GTE mechanic role.

This Academy provides hands-on technical training, classroom learning, and practical assessments. Successful candidates will transition into a GTE Mechanic at MTU Maintenance Canada upon course completion. Throughout the 14 weeks of training, candidates will be paid at the full level 1 mechanic rate and gain comprehensive industry knowledge directly applicable to turbine engine maintenance.

Your Tasks:

  • Participate in 14 weeks of structured on-site technical training led by experienced MTU instructors.
  • Learn the fundamentals of gas turbine engine inspection, assembly, disassembly, and repair.
  • Practice safety standards, tooling procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Demonstrate competence through written and practical exams.
  • Transition into a GTE Mechanic position upon successful program completion.

Our Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on mechanical experience, supported by a post-secondary trades course from a recognized institution (automotive, heavy-duty, marine, industrial, military, etc.)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and apply complex technical skills
  • Comfortable operating in a high-precision, highly regulated environment where safety and compliance standards are critical. Must successfully pass all written and practical assessments throughout the 14-week training program
  • Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Must have lived in Canada for the past 5 years
