Clinical Counsellor/Therapist

Jewish Child and Family Service (JCFS) is a Winnipeg-based, multifaceted, non-profit social service agency established to provide services and supports that assist individuals, couples, and families across the life-span.

JCFS is seeking a part-time contract Clinical Counsellor/Therapist to provide direct clinical services to children, individuals and families in need of counselling/psychotherapy. Typical areas of work include anxiety, depression, relationships, stress management, trauma, workplace challenges, life changes, et cetera.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of the role of professional self-reflection in the counselling process
  • Thorough knowledge and clinical experience related to risk assessment, crisis intervention, anxiety, depression, life changes, grief, et cetera
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skill in a range of intervention modalities, including brief solution focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, narrative therapy, and play therapy.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve complex situations and manage sensitive issues
  • Awareness of, and sensitivity to, diversity
  • Ability to effectively manage all responsibilities of the clinical role including assessments, referrals, paperwork, et cetera

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Able to work 10 - 20 hours per week
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Certification with a recognized counselling association
  • Liability Insurance
  • 3+ years post-graduate counselling experience
  • Adherence to professional standards and best practices
  • Engage in clinical consultation with the clinical supervisor, as required
  • Available to work Tuesday evenings in-person, along with day shifts
  • Fluency in Spanish, Russian, or Hebrew is an asset
