Established in 2007, Splatsin Development Corporation manages the economic interests of the Splatsin First Nations throughout the Secwepemcúlecw (Shuswap). Profits generated through natural resource construction, forestry, environmental, archaeological, culture and heritage and consumer services are invested into the Splatsin Community for the collective benefit of all members. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the CEO, the HR Generalist is a hands-on role that provides Human Resources support to the company’s people initiative. Providing great internal customer support, the HR Generalist will act as a trusted advisor to the executive team and play a vital role in the development and implementation of HR programs, processes, and policies. The role will manage HR activities by supporting employee relations, managing and maintaining employee data, supporting the administration of payroll and compensation, creating HR communications, and acting as a support and advisor to management.

Strategic Leadership (10%)

  • Manage policies and laws impacting human resources, making necessary recommendations and collaborating with external consultants on revisions to current policies, procedures, and related documents.
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice to management and employees on human resources-related matters in accordance with applicable legislation and internal policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with executives, management, employees, governing leadership, and various stakeholders.

Technical Leadership and Execution (65%)

  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations.
  • Oversee payroll processes to ensure accurate management of employee data and records.
  • Support the administration of leave of absence requests and other payroll-related activities.
  • Plan and execute HRIS (Human Resources Information System) implementation alongside internal teams; conduct data migration, system testing, and lead the change management process by developing and delivering training programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding HR and financial transactions.
  • Review and recommend revisions for policies and procedures and related documents as needed, develop and maintain strong company HR policies, processes aligned to our culture and in compliance with all regulations (e.g., employee handbooks, HR process manuals and guides)

People Support (25%)

  • Lead the recruitment process including job description development/revisions, interviewing, drafting offer letters, and conducting onboarding.
  • Organize and participate in local job fairs.
  • Develop and implement effective off-boarding processes, including conducting exit interviews.
  • Lead employee communications related to all HR policies and activities.
  • Organize company-wide events and team-building activities.
  • Recognize and celebrate employee successes.
  • Provide conflict resolution support and foster a positive work environment.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • 5+ years of progressive and related Human Resource experience is required
  • Knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and Local laws and regulations
  • Knowledge and experience working with a First Nations organization is highly desirable
  • Experience with writing grant proposals and grant implementation is an asset
  • Advanced ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, and manage time
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with MS office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
