Full job description

The EH&S Manager will support the Plant with daily administration of EH&S policies and programs, Safety orientation & training & appropriate record keeping, investigation & analysis of incidents or accidents, plant air quality monitoring and prepare & present statistical data on EH&S performance & trends.

Duties:

  • To implement and ensure compliance to all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and policies.
  • To monitor changes to regulations and current applicable standards and advise management on impact to operations.
  • To lead/support Industrial Hygiene Monitoring, Hazard Communication, Radiation Safety, Incident Investigations and General IH Procedures and/or Programs
  • To coordinate hazardous waste management (HWIN) and transportation (TDG).
  • To develop safety programs to minimize injury rates
  • To lead WSIB claims management and return to work program to control costs.
  • To act as management representative on JHSC.
  • To provide quarterly and annual environmental reports to NPRI, MOE, MISA among others.
  • To act as liaison with MOE & MOL.
  • To participate in capital project reviews for EHS guidance.
  • Manage Health and Safety training, meetings and audits.
  • Manage WHMIS information, compliance and training, keeping data up-to-date
  • Perform noise, air and safety checks.
  • Manage Environmental controls (MISA, CEPA) and perform audits.
  • Report on safety, environment and waste compliance performance
  • Collect weekly water samples and submit for analysis.
  • Oversee Safety, Health and Environmental issues at IKM (in Montreal).
  • Responsible for observing all of Morbern’s occupational health and safety rules. This ensures your personal safety and the safety of others and also assists Morbern promote safety at work for all employees.
  • Additional duties as required

Education:

  • Preference is given to candidates with BS degree (or higher degree), Engineering, Safety or Science related degree.
  • Safety/Industrial Hygiene regulatory knowledge and expertise are required.
  • Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) and/or Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is desired.

Qualifications:

  • Customer Focus, Team Leadership and Teamwork, Entrepreneurial Acting/Initiative, Results Orientation, Communication, and Work Management skills are essential.
  • WSIB Claims Management experience is desired.
  • Health and Safety committee member
  • Intermediate level computer skills
  • Safety Association member
  • Management experience in Safety, Health and Environmental areas (minimum 5 years)
  • Experience as a trainer/ train the trainer certification
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Familiar with waste reduction, recycling, management and classification
  • Experience and current knowledge of OHSA (Ontario) and CSST (Quebec) Safety Regulations
  • Familiar with Government regulations pertaining to Health, Safety and Environmental issues and regulations.
  • Familiar with current building and fire codes
  • Three or more years of experience in implementing IH or safety programs in a manufacturing arena is required.
  • Basic computer skills (ex. Spreadsheets, word processing, database management) essential.
