About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Customs Compliance Specialist to manage all import and export activity for our operations across Canada and the United States. You will be the go-to expert ensuring our cross-border shipments move smoothly, accurately, and in full compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classify all products using the Harmonized System (HS) and Schedule B codes
  • Prepare and review all customs documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, B3s, entry summaries, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with CBSA, CBP, CUSMA/USMCA, and other applicable trade regulations
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers on inbound and outbound shipments
  • Monitor and respond to customs holds, queries, and audits
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tariff classifications, duty rates, and trade agreement rules of origin
  • Manage import/export records in accordance with CBSA and CBP record-keeping requirements
  • Liaise with internal teams (purchasing, logistics, warehouse) to ensure timely clearance
  • Identify duty savings opportunities (tariff exemptions, drawbacks, bonded warehouse, etc.)
  • Support compliance audits and prepare corrective action plans as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience in customs compliance, import/export, or trade compliance
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. customs regulations (CBSA, CBP)
  • Familiarity with CUSMA/USMCA rules of origin
  • Experience in home goods, or consumer products industry is an asset
  • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) or CTCS designation is preferred
  • Proficiency in both English and French is an asset
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
