As a proudly Canadian organization, with 14 Long Term Care Homes and 8 Retirement Lodges across Ontario, Jarlette Health Services has established itself as an industry leader with over 55 years of experience in the dynamic senior care sector.
Avalon Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Orangeville, Ontario and serves 137 residents. Orangeville is approximately 60 km north of Mississauga and offers a small-town feel with big-city amenities, a thriving arts scene, extensive park and recreation facilities, and easy access to natural landscapes. The community is known for its welcoming, diverse population and serves as a growing hub with a good balance of cultural attractions and outdoor activities.
Join our team as a Unit Clerk!
Under the direction of the Director of Care, the Unit Clerk is responsible and accountable for a wide variety of clerical duties in support of care and services to promote the overall well-being of our residents.
This administrative support role covers four main areas:

Administration & Reception: Managing visitors, communication (phone/correspondence), records, inventory, and general clerical tasks (typing, scanning).

Resident & Clinical Support: Coordinating appointments, maintaining accurate/updated resident medical charts, and processing documentation for admissions, transfers, and deaths.

General Duties & Compliance: Portering residents, ensuring safety (fire/disaster plans, hazard reporting), maintaining strict confidentiality, and engaging in quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

Professional Development: Attending mandatory meetings/training, assisting with new staff orientation, and adhering to safe work practices.
The Unit Clerk also promotes positive experiences with residents, family members and guests, and interacts with other departments to ensure seamless resident care.
We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent

Minimum of 1 year related experience
-
Previous experience working in healthcare environment preferred

General knowledge of office practices, processes, and procedures

Computer proficiency

Attention to detail

Strong sense of responsibility

Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
