Full job description

Overview
Vema Hydrogen is a clean energy company developing Engineered Mineral Hydrogen (EMH) technology, which produces low-carbon hydrogen through catalytic stimulation of natural geological reactions. We are starting operations at our pilot site near Thetford Mines, Quebec, and are looking for experienced Lead Operators to join our field team on a contract, rotational basis.

The Lead Operator will be the senior hands-on presence at the wellsite, responsible for safely operating field equipment, measuring and recording gas and liquid production, and keeping accurate field records. This role suits an experienced flowback or production operator who works well independently, leads by example on safety, and communicates clearly with the operations team. You will report directly to Vema's Operations Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain injection and production equipment (pumps, separators, flowback equipment, metering, and associated surface facilities) safely and efficiently
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and respond to equipment and operational issues in the field
  • Measure, record, and report gas and liquid production volumes
  • Communicate operational status and any issues to the Operations Superintendent
  • Conduct all work in accordance with site safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and company standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite

Requirements

  • Demonstrated oil and gas flowback or production operations experience (required)
  • Strong understanding of field equipment operation, production measurement, and well site operations
  • Ability to work a rotational schedule on site near Thetford Mines, Quebec
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Valid driver's license

Nice to have

  • French language ability
  • H2S Alive, First Aid, and other current safety certifications
  • Experience with remote or pilot-stage field operations

Vema Hydrogen is an equal opportunity employer. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Pay: $650.00-$850.00 per day

Application question(s):

  • If your differential is pegged at the top of the chart, what do you do?
  • Roughly what flowback rates and pressures have you actually worked, and on what kind of wells?

Language:

  • French (preferred)

Work Location: On the road
