Position: Mining Project Coordinator – Tailings & Closure
Location: Toronto HQ (regular travel to Timmins, Ontario)

Role Summary
We are seeking a Mining Project Coordinator with tailings and mine closure experience to support the restart of tailings recovery project in Timmins, Ontario. Based in our Toronto headquarters, this role will coordinate technical, regulatory, and documentation activities for the project, working closely with on‑site personnel, external consultants, regulators, and Indigenous and local stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Documentation & Data Management
- Compile, organize, and maintain the full project document library, including closure plans, environmental/geotechnical/assay reports, pilot test data, and laboratory reports.
- Ensure documentation is current, well‑indexed, and accessible to internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical & Due Diligence Support
- Coordinate technical aspects of investor and JV due diligence, including preparing technical information packages and responding to technical queries.
- Organize and track lab and field testing programs (sampling, pilot tests, verification work).
- Regulatory & Permitting Coordination
- Act as a key liaison with local and provincial regulators (e.g., MNDM, MECP/MOE, municipal authorities).
- Prepare and submit required permitting applications, annual filings, monitoring reports, and other regulatory documentation related to tailings and mine closure.
- Indigenous & Community Interface (Documentation Support)
- Coordinate administrative and documentation interactions with Indigenous communities and local stakeholders as directed by company leadership.
- Maintain records of consultation activities and related agreements/commitments.
- Site–Head Office Coordination
- Serve as the coordination point between Toronto HQ and the Timmins site team (site foreman, contractors, and consultants).
- Monitor site progress on test programs and field activities; track schedules and deliverables; review field data and ensure timely information flow to management and partners.
- Milestone & Funding Support
- Track technical and operational milestones that are linked to funding disbursements or JV obligations.
- Support the finance team in verifying milestone completion and preparing related reports for investors and lenders.
- Reporting & Risk Management
- Prepare regular progress reports, dashboards, and risk summaries for senior management.
- Identify technical, regulatory, or schedule risks and recommend mitigation actions.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Relevant mining industry experience in site or project roles, with demonstrated exposure to:
- Tailings management and/or mine closure / reclamation, and
- Mining project development or operations.
- Working knowledge of mine site technical concepts such as tailings deposition, basic geotechnical and hydrogeologic principles, and ore/waste handling.
- Familiarity with environmental permitting and regulatory processes in Ontario (e.g., for tailings, water, closure, EA) is strongly preferred.
- Basic project financial literacy: able to read and interpret project budgets, understand CAPEX/OPEX categories, and support milestone‑based funding checks.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills; capable of drafting clear technical and regulatory documents and coordinating multi‑party communications.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and deadlines.
- Must be based in Toronto (or willing to relocate) with availability for regular travel to Timmins as required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote mine sites.
Preferred / Additional Assets
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., P.Eng. in Ontario or eligibility, PMP, or other mining/environmental credentials).
- Prior experience with tailings re‑processing, tailings recovery projects, or mine closure implementation.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and local stakeholders on mining or infrastructure projects.
