Title: Millwright

Reports to: Shop Foreman

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the direction of Supervision, the Millwright engages in centrifuge repair and restoration using engineering-supplied blueprints to meet production goals in accordance with company policies and procedures. Requires an individual with a high degree of experience who is quality-minded. Work is varied and custom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, assemble, dismantle, and clean machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, and hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Transport and locate machines and equipment to desired locations using forklifts, hoists, winches, cranes, and other equipment.
  • Understand how machines function in order to assemble and disassemble them properly, including knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and computer systems.
  • Use complex instruction books, tools such as levels, welding machines, and torque wrenches, and precision measuring devices (micrometers, etc.) to achieve required tolerances and determine appropriate fits for bearings and seals.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Millwright Ticket (journey-level certification)
  • Five or more years of documented experience as a Millwright or Industrial Mechanic, preferably in a machine shop
  • Centrifuge experience is an asset
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and physics
  • Ability to work from blueprints, layout plans, drawings, or other specifications
  • Ability to dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
  • Welding knowledge including arc, acetylene, and hydrogen
  • Ability to properly move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
  • Proficiency with tools and equipment such as drill presses, power saws, chain falls, jacks, skids, slings, burning torches, and other portable and hand tools
  • Ability to clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery
  • Ability to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipment
  • Ability to complete preventive maintenance at defined intervals on all mechanical equipment
  • Ability to perform tasks historically assigned to other mechanical classifications (e.g., Pipefitter, Machine Repair)
  • Operate overhead cranes, miscellaneous crane types, and forklifts
  • Demonstrated communication skills with supervisors, engineers, and peers
  • Shop safety knowledge
  • Must supply own tools
  • Ability to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42.00-$50.00 per hour
