Overview of the Role

Saputo Dairy Products Edmonton Plant is seeking an enthusiastic Millwright with experience in the manufacturing industry to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems within the facility on a 12-hour rotating schedule, in a 24/7 operation.

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and team collaboration while continuously developing skills and contributing to plant reliability.

  • Read, interpret, and apply information from technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of mechanical and automated equipment, including:

    • Conveyor systems

    • Liquid bottling and packaging lines (filling machines, automated sleeving, bottle descramblers, cappers, and automated case-packing equipment)

    • SEW motors, gearboxes, and homogenizers

    • Heat exchangers and related process equipment

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and maintain accurate service records; experience with a CMMS is considered an asset.

  • Perform medium to heavy lifting as required by daily operations.

  • Maintain effective, ongoing communication with plant personnel to support safe and efficient production processes.

  • Ensure all work adheres to OH&S, WCB, GMP, Food Safety, and all company policies, standards, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualification:

  • Millwright/Journeyman Certificate, dual certificate would be an asset

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a food processing facility would be an asset

  • High level of self-motivation and initiative with excellent trouble shooting skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

  • Demonstrated proficiency and dependability

  • Candidates must be strong, independent individual while possessing the ability to function within a highly integrated team environment

  • Demonstrated solid multi-tasking, problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

  • PC Windows based O/S experience an asset

  • Demonstrated solid Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), understanding and compliance. Knowledge of Food Safety Systems would be an asset

  • Proven communication and inter-personal skills; and should exhibit initiative, good judgement, diligence, and have an excellent work and attendance record.

  • Membership in UNIFOR Union of Canada, Local 445 (or must join within 30 days).

Hourly rate: $ 47.74 to $ 49.67 + premiums - Rate progression based on CBA.

Schedule: Continental hours of work designed for continuous operations - subject to the vacation schedule, scheduling variables and will change due to operation needs.

  • Weeks 01 & 02 – Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm

  • Weeks 03 & 04 – Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday - 6:00 am - 6:00 pm
