Position Title: Journeyman/woman Millwright

Reports To: Field Supervisor/Manager

Pay Type: Hourly

Wage Rates:

1st Year: $28.50

2nd Year: $33.25

3rd Year: $38.00

4th Year: $42.75

Journeyman: $47.50

*Please note, there are shift premiums for lead positions on top of the base wage

Hours: Shift Work – 40+ hours per week

Monday to Friday – First 8 hours are regular time

Monday to Friday – Next 4 hours are 1.5x

Monday to Friday – Remaining hours are 2x

Saturday and Sunday – All 2x

Statuary Holidays - All 3x

About the Role:
Octo is growing, and we are looking to add skilled Millwrights to our team. As our workload continues to expand, we are seeking motivated, safety-focused Journeyman/Journeywoman and Apprentice Millwrights to join our field crews.

If you take pride in precision, workmanship, and maintaining the highest safety standards, we want to hear from you. This is a hands-on role with a variety of mechanical tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Complete detailed Health & Safety documentation, including Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), PPE inspections, vehicle, trailer, and tool inspections, as well as Focus Observation Cards (FOCs).
  • Conduct mechanical condition inspections with quality control witness, complete associated paperwork, and report findings to management.
  • Perform a variety of mechanical tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Lube oil flushes and fills
  • Motor/pump, turbine, compressor, gearbox, and steam turbine laser alignments and installations
  • Pipe strain measurements and adjustments
  • Rigging and hoisting
  • Base/skid leveling and grouting
  • Mechanical seal and bearing removal/installation
  • Temperature sampling of equipment
  • Piping installation and flange torqueing
  • Stud removal
  • Obtain and use specialized tooling to assemble, disassemble, and repair industrial machinery in compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and detailed drawings to ensure work meets industry standards.
  • Participate in daily and monthly Health & Safety meetings.
  • Assist Field Machinists in field machining operations as required.
  • Collaborate with other trades to complete mechanical scopes of work.
  • Perform work in specialized areas, including confined spaces and heights, with required training.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Perform various other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Credentials:

  • Journeyman Millwright / Apprenticeship certification from an accredited institution (or currently pursuing).
  • Mandatory safety tickets: H2S Alive, CSTS 2020, WHMIS, Standard First Aid.
  • Safety tickets considered an asset: Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Overhead Crane.
  • Additional education considered an asset: Journeyman Machinist certification.

Experience:

  • Journeyman: Minimum 1–5 years of Millwright experience;
  • Apprentice: Relevant mechanical or industrial experience considered an asset..

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret technical manuals, operating procedures, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Strong mathematical skills for measurements, formulas, and performance calculations.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong focus on safety.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of API standards and recommended installation procedures.
  • Manual dexterity, motor coordination, and physical strength.
