Full job description

Mill Assembler

Build custom retail displays and fixtures for major brands.

About Somerville

Somerville is a design-led manufacturer of retail experiences. On our shop floor we build the displays, fixtures, and signage that go into stores for global brands, national brands, and big-box retailers across the country.

We’re looking for a skilled Mill Assembler who takes pride in building things right — to the drawing, to tolerance, every time.

The role

This is a hands-on building role for someone who knows their way around a shop. You’ll work from drawings to assemble custom displays, fixtures, and millwork, fastening components accurately and making sure every finished piece meets spec.

You’ll work on a wide range of projects — no two programs are quite the same — alongside a team that cares about doing high-quality work.

What you’ll do

  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand sizing, components, and attachment points
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and mill machinery to fasten and assemble components
  • Perform inspections and quality checks to confirm measurements and finished quality
  • Ensure parts fit accurately to produce the expected finished product
  • Complete repairs and rework as needed
  • Clean and pack finished product for shipping
  • Log on and off jobs in the system for labour and time tracking
  • Assist colleagues and other departments when needed
  • Work safely and keep a clean, organized workspace in line with Health and Safety procedures

What you bring

  • Proven experience in mill assembly, cabinetmaking, millwork, or a similar build environment
  • Strong ability to read and work from blueprints and shop drawings
  • Hands-on skill with hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and shop machinery
  • Sound knowledge of materials and working to tolerance
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop

What we offer

  • A steady, full-time role in a busy shop with consistent work
  • The chance to build high-profile retail displays and fixtures for major brands
  • A clean, well-equipped shop and a team that takes craftsmanship seriously
  • Extended health and dental care, vision care, life insurance, paid time off, on-site parking, company events
