Do you have strong organizational, attention to detail and interpersonal skills? If so, consider this rewarding opportunity with the Ministry of the Solicitor General in the position of Health Unit Clerk, where you will provide reception and administrative support services to the staff of the health care unit at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre.
About the job
In this role, you will:
- provide receptionist services;
- prepare and review variety of reports and correspondence;
- book physician, specialist and medical test appointments;
- complete applications for health insurance numbers;
- process medication and special diet requests and place orders for vaccinations;
- maintain filing systems and other related administrative duties.
What you bring to the team
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
You have knowledge of legislation including the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Mental Health Act, and ability to acquire knowledge of institution and health care policies regarding the release of medical information and routine information.
- You have knowledge of office practices to provide reception, mail, word processing and clerical support services as well as knowledge of filing systems.
- You have the ability to maintain confidentiality and security of information.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- You have well developed oral communication skills to answer the telephone, direct calls, take messages and, provide information to callers.
- You have proven interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment and deal with callers and staff in a courteous and tactful manner.
- You have written communication skills to prepare accurate letters, reports, and other correspondence as well as to receive calls and take messages.
Analytical, Organizational and Reasoning Skills:
- You have analytical skills to identify errors and verify documents for accuracy and completeness.
- You have reasoning skills to determine what matters should be brought to the attention of staff or supervisor.
- You have organizational and time management skills to prioritize your workload and ensure deadlines are met.
Computer Skills:
- You can maintain filing, process reports and input data in through the computer system.
- You proficient with word processing equipment and software to prepare letters and reports as well as database filing systems in order to input and track information.
