About the Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity within our engineering team to help build the software that powers advanced sonar technology used in demanding real-world environments. We're looking for a Software Developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, writing high-quality code, and working across software and hardware to deliver reliable, high-performance applications.

You'll play a key role throughout the software development lifecycle—from architecture and implementation to testing, deployment, and long-term product support—helping create software that controls, monitors, and visualizes data from our portfolio of sonar systems.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain robust C/C++ applications for Windows and Linux
  • Build software that interfaces directly with advanced sonar hardware.
  • Develop new features while improving the performance, stability, and reliability of existing applications.
  • Debug complex software and system-level issues across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Write unit tests and contribute to system verification and validation.
  • Produce clear technical documentation to support testing, maintainability and code reuse.
  • Collaborate closely with software, hardware, systems, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Contribute to scalable software architecture and modern engineering practices.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and continuously improve our development processes.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong C/C++ development experience on both Windows and Linux.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture and object-oriented design.
  • Experience with multithreaded programming and concurrent systems.
  • Experience with TCP/IP networking and system-level programming.
  • Familiarity with Windows APIs, MFC, and embedded Linux tooling e.g Yocto .
  • Experience using Git, Azure DevOps, or similar source control and CI/CD platforms.
  • Experience working within Agile development teams.
  • MATLAB experience is a strong asset.

Who You Are

You're a developer who enjoys tackling technically challenging problems and takes pride in delivering quality software. You take ownership of your work from concept through delivery, you can communicate effectively, and thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments.

Why You’ll Enjoy Working Here:

At Kongsberg Discovery, you'll join a team passionate about innovation and committed to helping one another succeed. We believe the best ideas come from diverse perspectives, curiosity, and empowering our people to continuously improve. We take comprehensive care of our employees through extended health, dental, and vision benefits, a 7% RRSP matching program, and flexible paid time off.
