Full job description

Bazay Blacksmithing, a creative custom metal shop, is seeking a talented Welder/Fabricator to join our team. We are a project-driven shop, and in your role as lead or intermediate fabricator, you will be responsible for producing a range of items from furniture and interior design elements for luxury homes to complex, large-scale architectural elements for commercial spaces. Must be proficient with TIG welding, is comfortable working independently or as part of a team, and is a self-starter with a strong desire to learn.

Main Duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to determine specific welding requirements (i.e. understand dimensions, tolerances and other specifications)
  • Experienced in building projects from start to finish using shop drawings.
  • Set up and operate welding machines and other equipment based on job requirements
  • TIG weld steel, aluminum, stainless steel and brass components based on specs
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
  • Assess incoming jobs and read work orders to determine production requirements
  • Manage multiple time-sensitive projects including welding, fabrication and installation as required
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
  • Keep all work areas and tools clean and organized
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment and daily maintenance in compliance with safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Employment Requirements:

  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and material properties including brass, stainless steel and aluminum
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
