Full job description

As an Inside Sales Representative, you will sell industrial metals — including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel in sheet, pipe, and structural forms — to purchasing managers and business owners across Ontario. This role involves outbound calling, managing existing accounts, and developing new business. You will be selling to small and medium-sized businesses that require raw metals for internal manufacturing and fabrication. You will receive a mix of warm leads, self-prospected leads, and dormant accounts. This is a full-time, in-office role reporting directly to the Inside Sales Manager. The base salary is $65,000 – $75,000, plus monthly commissions and an annual bonus.

They service customers across Canada and the United States. The company distributes steel, aluminum, and stainless steel products — including sheet, pipe, and structural forms — to small and medium-sized businesses requiring raw metals for manufacturing and fabrication. Their core clients include fabrication shops and industrial businesses in Ontario.

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY

  • • Head Office: Brampton, Ontario
  • • Work arrangement: Full-time in-office — Monday to Friday
  • • Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, standard business hours
    • Sales territory: Ontario-wide

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • • 2+ years of B2B inside sales experience — industrial, transaction-based, or related sales backgrounds are preferred
  • • Experience making outbound calls is essential
  • • Industrial experience is preferred but not required — backgrounds in manufacturing, distribution, or related sectors are relevant
  • • Entrepreneurial mindset — must be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-activity environment
  • • Must be a team player who can follow established processes and procedures
  • • Strong work ethic — this is a full-time, five-day-a-week in-office role

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) — Basic

TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES

  • • 25% New Business Development — outbound prospecting, cold calling, and building new client relationships
  • • 50% Account Management — managing and growing an existing book of accounts
  • • 25% Customer Service & Quotation Preparation — handling client inquiries and preparing custom quotes

On a typical day, you will be making outbound calls to purchasing managers and business owners, following up on existing accounts for repeat orders, preparing price quotes and RFQs, and logging activity in SugarCRM. You will be expected to build your own prospecting lists for cold leads.

LEADS

  • • 25–50% Warm leads provided by the company
  • • 30–40% Existing accounts transferred to you in Year 1
  • • Remaining leads are self-prospected — you are expected to build your own lists and conduct cold outreach

OVERNIGHT TRAVEL

None required. This is a fully inside role — all selling is conducted by phone and email from the Brampton office.

SUPPORT & TRAINING

  • • Structured onboarding program: 2–3 weeks of technical and product training
  • • Sales training provided through job shadowing and structured learning
  • • Sales management offers daily interactions and active coaching support
  • • You are expected to be client-ready within 1–2 months of your start date
