Full job description

Overview:

Merlin Plastics Supply Inc. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our industrial team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machinery installation, maintenance, and repair, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency. This is an on-site role requiring physical work in various environments including heights, confined spaces, and noisy or dusty conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment, machinery, and production systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, hoses, pumps, and air lines.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair conveyor systems, including belts, rollers, bearings, motors, gearboxes, chains, and drive components.
  • Detect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Replace defective or worn mechanical components, bearings, shafts, seals, belts, chains, sprockets, and other machine parts.
  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance on production equipment, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, compressors, fans, and related machinery.
  • Install, align, and adjust motors, gearboxes, pulleys, couplings, and other rotating equipment.
  • Perform equipment inspections and identify potential mechanical failures before they result in breakdowns.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, machinery installations, and plant improvement projects.
  • Operate hoisting, rigging, and lifting equipment safely to move machinery and heavy components.
  • Use power tools, hand tools, welding and cutting equipment (as required), grinders, and forklifts safely and effectively.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report equipment issues to supervisors.
  • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and housekeeping standards while performing maintenance work.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in industrial maintenance or mechanical technician roles.
  • Equipment and machinery expertise, including conveyors, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, pumps, compressors, and power tools.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and under physically demanding conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong oral communication skills and a proven team player.

Physical Requirements:

  • Handling heavy loads.
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding tasks.
