Child & Youth Therapist Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist

New Mindset Therapy Inc. is seeking an experienced, compassionate therapist to provide counselling services to children, youth and their families. The ideal candidate will be confident working with younger clients, knowledgeable about neurodivergence and committed to practical, evidence-informed care.

Required Professional Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Registered Social Worker (RSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW); or
  • Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Applicants who are not currently registered with an Ontario regulatory college will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapy to children and youth experiencing emotional, behavioural, developmental or mental health concerns.
  • Support parents and caregivers with practical strategies that can be applied at home.
  • Work confidently and respectfully with neurodivergent children and youth, including clients with ADHD, autism, emotional-regulation difficulties and sensory needs.
  • Complete clinical documentation accurately and within required timelines.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on each client’s needs, strengths and goals.
  • Communicate and collaborate appropriately with parents, caregivers, schools and other professionals when consent is provided.
  • Maintain professional, ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Participate as a collaborative and dependable member of the New Mindset Therapy team.
  • Maintain a minimum caseload of approximately 10 client appointments per week.
  • Offer some evening or weekend availability to accommodate children and working families.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current registration in good standing as an RSW with OCSWSSW or an RP/RP(Q) with CRPO.
  • Approximately three to five years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience providing therapy to children and youth, particularly younger children.
  • Knowledge of and comfort supporting neurodivergent clients and their families.
  • Formal training or certification in one or more therapeutic approaches appropriate for children and youth.
  • Strong assessment, treatment-planning, documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with children while maintaining effective communication with parents and caregivers.
  • Reliable, organized, responsive and able to manage clinical responsibilities independently.
  • Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive, trauma-informed and strengths-based care.
  • Professional liability insurance and the ability to provide a current vulnerable-sector police check.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset.

Preferred Clinical Training

Training or certification in one or more of the following would be an asset:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills
  • Play-based or attachment-focused interventions
  • Trauma-focused approaches
  • EMDR adapted for children and adolescents
  • Emotion-regulation and behavioural interventions
  • Parent coaching or family-based approaches
  • Neurodiversity-affirming care
