As our organization continues to grow, we're expanding our counselling services to better support the mental health and well-being of individuals, couples, and families in our communities.

We're looking for compassionate and dedicated Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) and Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCCs) to join our growing team in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley.

What You'll Do

You'll provide individualized counselling services to clients within your areas of clinical competence and interest.

Depending on your experience and preferred practice areas, your caseload may include:

• Children and youth
• Adults
• Couples
• Parents and caregivers
• Families

You do not need to work with every population listed above. We welcome counsellors with specialized interests and are happy to explore a caseload that aligns with your strengths, experience, and professional goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing individual, couples, or family counselling within your scope of practice
• Completing intake assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
• Supporting clients with emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, and other presenting concerns
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Collaborating with other Footholds clinicians, families, and community professionals when appropriate and with informed consent
• Practising in accordance with applicable professional, ethical, and privacy standards
• Contributing to the continued growth and development of our counselling services

Our counselling program is continuing to grow, so this position offers the opportunity to gradually build a caseload as referrals increase. We welcome applicants looking for a smaller caseload as well as those interested in developing more substantial hours over time.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a counsellor who:

• Holds a master's degree in counselling psychology or a closely related field
• Holds an RCC designation with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) or a CCC designation with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA)
• Is a member in good standing with their respective professional association
• Has experience or a strong interest in working with one or more of our client populations
• Brings warmth, curiosity, empathy, and professionalism to their work
• Values collaborative, person-centred, and culturally responsive approaches
• Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and an understanding of professional boundaries
• Is comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team
• Is committed to ongoing learning and professional development

Experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, children and youth with disabilities, or families navigating complex needs is an asset, but not a requirement for all counselling positions.

We welcome counsellors from a variety of clinical backgrounds and therapeutic orientations.

Experienced clinicians are encouraged to apply, and newer RCCs and CCCs who are passionate about developing their practice are also welcome.
