Opportunity

Are you calm under pressure and driven to help others? As a Combat Medic in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), you’ll provide medical care to injured soldiers, supporting health services in Canada and abroad.

This position is available full-time or part-time.

Overview

As a Combat Medic, your primary duties are to:

  • Provide initial care for patients
  • Administer lifesaving interventions and treatments to trauma casualties
  • Instruct soldiers on Combat First Aid and Tactical Combat Casualty Care
  • Participate in rescues from crashed vehicles, tanks and damaged buildings
  • Maintain, replenish and account for general and medical supplies
  • Manage soldier’s medical readiness, supplies and equipment

To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada;
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except:
  • For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent);
  • For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student;
  • Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Québec (some jobs need higher levels of education).

Required Education

The minimum required education to apply for this position is the completion of the provincial requirements for Grade 10 or Secondary 4 in Quebec with Grade 10 applied Math and any Science course at the Grade 10 or Secondary 4 level.

Foreign education may be accepted.
