About Us

Thompson Career College London Campus is committed to delivering industry-relevant training that prepares graduates to excel in their chosen careers. We are launching our Pharmacy Assistant Certificate Program — a comprehensive, fully online program designed to equip students with the practical knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies needed to thrive in community and retail pharmacy settings — and are seeking passionate and experienced pharmacy professionals to join our founding academic team.

As one of our early hires, you will not just teach — you will help shape our curriculum frameworks, assessment systems, and instructional delivery models from the ground up. This is a high-growth role with a unique opportunity to leave a lasting impact on our program and the next generation of pharmacy assistants entering the workforce.

Key ResponsibilitiesA. Student Engagement & Online Classroom Delivery

  • Conduct live interactive online sessions via Zoom or BigBlueButton (BBB), covering pharmacy-specific topics including dispensing procedures, drug classification, pharmacy math, and customer service.
  • Create an inclusive and engaging virtual learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles and adult learners returning to education.
  • Use real-world pharmacy scenarios and case studies to reinforce theoretical concepts and build practical problem-solving skills.
  • Monitor student attendance, participation, and academic progress, providing timely interventions when students are at risk of falling behind.
  • Deliver instruction on pharmacy software systems (e.g., Kroll, McKesson) and point-of-sale technology used in retail pharmacy environments.

B. Curriculum Development & Academic Support

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of course materials, lesson plans, lab simulations, and assessment tools aligned with industry standards.
  • Design and grade quizzes, assignments, practical assessments, and final examinations that measure both theoretical knowledge and applied pharmacy skills.
  • Integrate current pharmacy regulations, drug schedules, and industry best practices into teaching materials to ensure curriculum relevance.
  • Provide one-on-one academic support and mentoring to students requiring additional guidance on complex topics such as pharmacology and compounding.

C. Job-Readiness & Career Pathway Support

  • Prepare students for workplace readiness by incorporating real-world dispensing workflows, prescription processing, and inventory management exercises.
  • Guide students through professional development topics including pharmacy ethics, patient confidentiality, workplace communication, and customer service excellence.
  • Share industry insights and career advice to help students understand career pathways in community, hospital, and specialty pharmacy settings.
  • Support practicum and placement preparation by helping students build professional résumés and prepare for pharmacy workplace interviews.

D. Academic Administration & System Building

  • Maintain accurate student records, gradebooks, and attendance logs within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Participate in program review meetings, curriculum audits, and quality assurance processes to ensure ongoing program excellence.
  • Contribute to building foundational systems and processes as a founding team member — including rubrics, feedback templates, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with the academic leadership team to align course delivery with program outcomes and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Pharmacy Technician Diploma or Certificate from an accredited institution, or equivalent pharmacy-related credential.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience working in a community, retail, or hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Strong knowledge of dispensing procedures, drug classification (OTC and prescription), pharmacy math, and pharmacy law in the Canadian context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex pharmaceutical concepts clearly to diverse learners.
  • Comfortable with online teaching platforms (Zoom, BigBlueButton, Google Workspace, LMS environments).
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate adult learners in a virtual classroom setting.

Preferred

  • Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience in a post-secondary or professional development setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development or instructional design for pharmacy or health sciences programs.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software systems such as Kroll, Telus Health, or McKesson.

Additional Assets

  • Experience in hospital pharmacy, compounding, or specialty pharmacy environments.
  • Knowledge of NAPRA standards and Canadian pharmacy regulatory frameworks.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/French or other languages) is considered an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
