Opportunity

Are you motivated to deliver hands-on care where it’s needed most? As a Physician Assistant in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), you’ll provide primary and emergency health care to CAF members in clinics, on ships and on operations in Canada and around the world.

This position is available full-time or part-time, or as part of our paid education program.

Overview

As a Physician Assistant, your primary duties are to:

  • Provide primary health care
  • Provide emergency care
  • Promote health protection and education
  • Practice environmental medicine and hyperbaric medicine
  • Promote occupational health and safety

This position is similar to the following:

  • Physician Assistant

To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada;
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except:
  • For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent);
  • For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student;
  • Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Québec (some jobs need higher levels of education).

Direct Entry Plan

If you already have a Baccalaureate or Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program, are a Certified PA holding a current Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) Certification and current registration to practise as a Physician Assistant in a Canadian province or territory, the CAF may place you directly into the required on-the-job training program following basic training.
