At Stonemont, we are expanding our resident-care offering to include an assisted level of care for seniors who require additional support with personal care, medication management, health monitoring, and care coordination.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our leadership team as Resident Care Manager. This is an opportunity to help shape and lead an enhanced care model while preserving the independence, choice, dignity, and hospitality that define retirement living at Stonemont.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Resident Care Manager is the senior on-site clinical and operational leader for resident care.

The successful candidate will lead the implementation and ongoing oversight of Stonemont's supportive and assisted-care services. The Resident Care Manager will be professionally accountable for nursing practice, clinical decisions, resident-care standards, staff competency, and the escalation of care needs that exceed the residence's service capacity.

This role combines professional nursing leadership with people management, quality improvement, operational planning, and strong relationships with residents, families, and healthcare partners.

What You Will Lead

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve Stonemont's assisted-care offering.
• Complete or oversee pre-admission assessments, resident reassessments, and individualized care-planning processes.
• Monitor changes in resident health and ensure timely assessment, intervention, documentation, escalation, and follow-up.
• Oversee medication-management and administration systems, including pharmacy coordination, medication records, audits, incidents, and corrective action.
• Provide clinical direction, coaching, and support to the resident-care team.
• Ensure care is assigned or delegated appropriately based on resident needs, staff competence, professional standards, and scope of employment.
• Develop and maintain staff orientation, education, competency-validation, supervision, and auditing programs.
• Lead or participate in incident reviews, complaint resolution, risk assessment, root-cause analysis, and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Oversee clinical documentation, consent, privacy, infection prevention and control, emergency protocols, and change-in-condition processes.
• Collaborate with residents, families, physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, hospitals, emergency services, and community healthcare providers.
• Participate in recruitment, workforce planning, scheduling oversight, performance management, budgeting, and resource planning.
• Work with the Executive Director and management team to keep admissions and service commitments aligned with staffing, competencies, infrastructure, and service capacity.
• Conduct weekly resident care conferences and quarterly family meetings.

What You Bring

• Current practising licence and registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse with the Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator.
• Nursing education that qualifies you for RN licensure; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
• Progressive RN experience in seniors' care, assisted living, community care, continuing care, gerontology, or a comparable environment.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership and people-management experience.
• Strong knowledge of resident assessment, care planning, medication management, clinical documentation, staff competency, assignment and delegation, quality improvement, and risk management.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain and maintain the required certifications.
• Ability to successfully complete criminal record and vulnerable sector checks.
• Strong business judgment, including experience with budgeting, staffing, resource planning, and performance measurement.
• Excellent communication, organization, conflict-resolution, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
