Kristus Darzs Latvian Home is a 100-bed not-for-profit Long Term Care Home located in a beautiful setting in Woodbridge, Ontario. We pride ourselves on creating a long-term care home that feels like family. We believe in the power of kindness, compassion, and the positive impact it has on the well-being of our residents. As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our leadership team as the Assistant Director of Care.

Position Summary:

As the Assistant Director of Care, you will play a key role in the leadership and management of our long-term care facility. Working closely with the Director of Care, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality resident care, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall success of our Home. Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing clinical quality improvement initiatives that enhance the overall effectiveness of our nursing care. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a passion for enhancing the lives of seniors.

Qualifications:

· Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing with a current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Strong understanding of regulatory requirements under FLTCA and O. Reg. 246/22 and best practices in long-term care.

· Minimum 3 Years Long Term Care experience in a leadership role.

· Thorough knowledge of Point Click Care

· Education in and experience with quality improvement processes and principles

· Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

· Knowledge and experience of interRAI LTCF

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Support the daily operations of the nursing department to ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of resident care plans.
  • Conduct clinical rounds and quality audits to promote resident safety and adherence to best practices.
  • Promote evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to resident and family concerns with professionalism and compassion.

Staff Leadership & Education

· Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff.

· Participate in recruitment, orientation, performance management, and employee development.

· Provide education related to clinical documentation, PointClickCare, and nursing best practices.

Program Leadership

· Coordinate the Prep LTC Student Placement Program, including student placements, preceptor support, and partnerships with post-secondary institutions.

· Supervise the interRAI LTCF Coordinator

· Lead or support specialty clinical programs, including:

o Falls Prevention and Management

o Skin and Wound Care

o Pain Management

o Continence Care

Operations & Quality Improvement

· Serve as a PointClickCare system resource.

· Participate in the managers on-call rotation.

· Prepare and submit Critical Incident Reports in accordance with legislative requirements.

· Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance resident outcomes.

· Participate in quality improvement initiatives, risk management activities, Resident Council meetings, and staff meetings.

Additional Duties:

Provide coverage for Director of Care in their absence. Perform related duties as assigned by Director of Care and Executive Director.

Pay: $97,000.00-$106,000.00 per year
