Salary pay: $19.77

About Us:

Reconnect Health Services is a not-for-profit health service organization in the west end of Toronto. Our services include supports for seniors, caregivers, and people living with mental health and addictions concerns. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of client-centered care in our sector.

As a Home Help Worker, you will support seniors and disabled individuals in their homes who are unable to do this work for themselves.

What You'll Do:

You will be entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Provide support services in clients' homes; housekeeping duties include vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, washing floors, cleaning toilet and bathtub, sink, stove, fridge, laundry, washing dishes, help with preparing meals, making beds wrap and disposing of garbage;
  • Clean internal windows surface that are within hand reach;
  • Perform grocery shopping (with a limit 10 pounds) on behalf of clients as specified;
  • Escort clients to medical appointments, banking, and for walks and provide companionship for a warm and friendly atmosphere as specified.

What We're Looking For:

To thrive in this exciting role, we seek candidates with:

  • High School Certificate;
  • Minimum six months to 1 year related experience in direct service delivery to seniors;
  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities;
  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal or written;
  • Personable with cultural awareness and ability to build relationships with clients in a multicultural environment;
  • Ability to organize, manage and prioritize work in an efficient manner and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to support and work co-operatively with all team members and achieve the goals and objectives of the agency;
  • Ability to resolve problems and concerns of staff, clients, caregivers and other issues affecting the effective operation of the organization.

Working Conditions:

  • Interacts with client, family members, staff, visitors and other care providers
  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B and C viruses

Please be advised that in order to be eligible for employment at Reconnect, all new hires must have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada prior to their start date and will be required to show proof.
